Hey did you know that you cannot trisect an angle with just a compass and a ruler.
It took a thing as abstract as Evariste Galois's Galois theory to prove such a simple looking non-abstract problem.

Koteshwara Rao Sir
It fills me with deep regret that the best teacher I have ever had is no more there. However, I can say with certainty that he'll continue to live in the hearts and minds of us, his students. He is Immortal.
His trademark arrogance and style are unforgettable.
Maths was elegance personified.
It was art for him. He had the wonderful ability to teach the subject in an altogether different way. Maths was more than just a subject for him, it was a way of thought.
His classes were mixed with humour, historical accounts and fundamental insights.
The passion with which he spoke about Maths was infectious.
The Mathematical rigor that he always maintained and the brilliance that he displayed in solving problems was simply great. On top of all this, he hardly ever had to use a piece of paper for it was all in his head.
The way he used to comment on the locally published books and highlight their faults was cool !!
He wasn't one who would tolerate any leniency in mathematical rigour.
You just can't say if x^2 = 4 then x = 2.
One of the books he liked was Elementary Mathematics by Dorofeev et al., albeit he did find some issues with that book as well.
I still remember the Mathematical Induction class. He showed us how powerful the technique was. "Sometimes proving the base step is a much greater challenge than the induction step". He clearly exemplified this using a carefully chosen problem from some Math olympiad.
Derivatives of inverse trigonometric functions - The way this was done was a treat to see.
The list goes on.
He was a class apart and would always be.
He was a chain smoker as well. This is what finally led to the fatal heart attack on 7 Feb, 08. He had already had a few heart attacks.
May your soul rest in peace sir. I revere you with the highest regard. If I had to pick only one teacher who has made the most difference to my life till date, it would be you sir !
A true teacher is one who not just teaches a subject but sets the student on his own journey of pursuing the subject. Your passion and love for Maths will always be an inspiration for all of us.

Language is a means of expressing myself. So, it is necessary that I must be good in my linguistic abilities. Otherwise, I might end up limiting my ability to think ! Because, even while thinking about something, I do consciously or unconsciously take aid of language.
Well yes, you might say, that I can very well visualize things. But, alas, to put something in concrete form, I'm forced to use language. By concrete, I mean something that is unambiguous.
Well, before I started writing this blog, I thought about what to write. Nothing occurred in my mind and so I'm just putting down some random thoughts.
Thoughts are like photons, the energy packets. They contain so much power that one thought has the power to revolutionize the world.
If we had never thought of coming up with something like the internet, you would never have been able to read this blog !
En francais, on l'appelle la langue.
Thinking about human anatomy, I often think why has God given us the genital organs and the mechanism of reproduction that you all, I presume, very well know about. Munna would say, "Hey how else would you reproduce ." But, here is the catch. With all these processes comes lot of distractions. Movies these days are full of sexually arousing content. People abuse their body in the sake of sexual entertainment. Carnal pleasure has replaced spiritual happiness.
But yeah, Munna would again say, "Well, listen I'm better off with sth that I derive immediately than with sth that I've to seek out for." Well dear Munna, that's how God wants it to be.
Lets ponder over this, may be, sometime later.
Look at Mathematics. The thrill that one gets when he solves a problem. Isn't it wonderful !
But, again, one has to seek out for it. The thrill and pleasure is not immediate. That's how God wants it to be.
But, the thing is, human tendency is to seek for immediate gains. Isn't it? Or at least, most of us are like this.
Friends, here is a wonderful piece of ancient wisdom. When in trouble, just remind yourself that, "Divinity lies within you." You will be a much more stronger and courageous person.
